Who this is between
These terms are an agreement between you and [legal entity], which runs deprint. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use deprint for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.
What deprint does
deprint lets you sign your own images with Content Credentials, add an invisible mark that points back to a credential you published, and inspect what any image file says about its origin.
A credential is a signed statement about a file. It lets others check who signed it and when. It is not copy protection, it does not prevent copying, and no invisible mark is guaranteed to survive every kind of processing. Detection results are estimates and are reported with a confidence figure.
Your work stays yours
You keep every right you have in the images you upload. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store, process and display your files to you, and to publish the credentials you choose to publish. That permission ends when you delete the file or close your account, except for credentials you have already published, which you can revoke.
We do not use your images to train machine-learning models.
What you may sign
Sign only work you made or have the right to sign. Signing someone else's work as your own, or signing a statement you know to be false, is a breach of these terms and may be unlawful.
What you may not do
- Use deprint, or anything learned from it, to remove, weaken or forge a watermark or credential that belongs to someone else, including a generator's disclosure mark.
- Misrepresent machine-generated content as a photograph, or misrepresent who made a work.
- Upload content you have no right to upload, or content that is unlawful where you are.
- Probe, overload or attempt to break the service, other than as described on the security page.
deprint itself will not remove a mark you did not put there. A file that carries another party's credential or watermark is reported, and signing is not offered for it.
Your keys are yours to keep safe
Signing keys stay on your device or in your camera. We never receive them and cannot recover them. You are responsible for keeping them safe and for anything signed with them. If a key is lost or exposed, revoke it; credentials signed with it will then show as revoked.
Plans and payment
Some features need a paid plan. Prices, limits and billing periods are shown on the pricing page and at checkout. [Billing terms, renewals, refunds and taxes to be completed.]
If you leave
You can close your account at any time. Files you have signed stay signed: the credential lives in the file and keeps verifying. Before you go you can export the manifests you published, so recovery lookups keep working if you host them yourself.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to export your data.
Changes to the service and these terms
We may change the service or these terms. If a change materially reduces your rights we will tell you at least [30] days before it takes effect. The version and date at the top of this page always describe the text in force.
Warranties and liability
[To be completed with counsel: disclaimers, limits of liability and indemnities appropriate to the governing law.]
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction]. Questions about them go to legal@deprint.example.
